About Me - Susan DeWenter Photography

Short Version:

I have created a portfolio of images that I am extremely proud of.  I have had gallery shows and have sold my printed images  privately for a long time, but now is the time for me to put them out to the world to enjoy and purchase!  Click this link to find out how to order prints.

My love is landscape and macro (close up) photography and the ability to capture beauty in things I see around me daily, so at this time, I will only only consider booking a portrait shoot for friends and family. Click this link to contact me.

Longer Version:

I fell in love with photography in high school, when I bought my first camera.  It was a Canon AE-1. I remember being very confused with all the numbers...f/stop, ISO, shutter speed...it all boggled my mind.  Then you add to the mix that the camera only had manual focus...well, my results were iffy at best!  When I shot color film, I would hold my breath anticipating the gorgeous pictures I thought I took as I opened the envelope.  My heart would sink when I realized that one of my 24 pictures actually turned out the way I had envisioned.

As I grew into adulthood, I continued to take photographs, but nothing serious. My new love was painting.  I loved to design and paint my own creations.  I had two painting instruction books published, and had original designs featured in several trade magazines.

Fast forward to 2007 when I got a very nice digital camera and realized the capabilities of digital photography.  I could now take 100s of images and if only one turned out (which is often the case) that was OKAY! I upgraded camera equipment in 2009 to a Canon 40D and learned everything that I could about all those crazy numbers and the "rules" of photography. I now understand f/stop, ISO and shutter speed, use a tripod periodically and (thankfully) I have auto focus to rely on if necessary!

I have been taking a lot of photos since I got my first digital SLR and have accumulated quite a collection!
